Chez Papa – French Bistro in Johor Bahru
To be honest I don’t really like to eat European food in Johor Bahru. Even simple European dishes in JB’s restaurants (such as mashed potatoes, omelette or bread) are not so tasty as in Europe. That’s why I was so surprised when I visited French bistro Chez Papa recently – food there was absolutely amazing!
Chef owner Dominique Muller is from Nice, France. He opened this restaurant in 1999. Regional French Cuisine with “heart” – it’s how he calls his restaurant. I would have to say, this place was everything the ambiance (very romantic, dim, and beautiful), service (extremely friendly) and fantastic well prepared food.
Aprons on the ceiling:
I’ve never been to France but when I was sitting in Chez Papa and eating Soupe de Tomates (tomato soup) served with crispy croutons, I felt as if I were in Paris.
Besides of tomato soup I’ve tried delicious salmon salad:
Quiche, a famous French tart:
They served bread and butter before a meal:

Prices here are quite high for locals, so it’s not a place for everyday dining. But I’d definitely recommend this romantic restaurant for Valentine’s Day or Wedding anniversary dinner.
