According to a CNN website, Peking duck is the one of the most delicious food in the world:
The maltose-syrup glaze coating the skin is the secret. Slow roasted in an oven, the crispy, syrup-coated skin is so good that authentic eateries will serve more skin than meat, and bring it with pancakes, onions and hoisin or sweet bean sauce.
Other than flying or floating, this is the only way you want your duck.
When I want to eat delicious Beijing duck, I usually go to the Pekin restaurant in JB. The duck here is crispy, wrapped in pancakes and served with sweet sauce. I’m not a person who is crazy about food, but this awesome duck makes me really happy
Besides the Peking duck here you can try amazing very well cooked seafood: crabs, lobsters, prawns, fish, etc. They can cook in different ways, and the main thing that seafood here is not oily, very fresh and all ingredients of top quality.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention noodles: this is definitely my favorite noodles in Johor Bahru:
Prices in Pekin restaurant are reasonable for this level of service and food. Normally we spend there 120-150 RM for 2 persons. Below are some menu prices:
- Flower Crab: 100g RM7.5
- Snow Crab: 100g RM33
- Local Baby Lobster: 100g RM18
- Local Small Lobster: 100g RM22
- Flower Lobster: 100g RM34
- Black Crayfish: 100g RM15
The restaurant has a lovely interior, one of the rooms is opened-air. For those who prefer halal food they have “Halal” branch of Pekin restaurant, located in the same area near Sutera mall.
