Located on the beach of Johor Strait, Todak restauraunt is a romantic place with views of Singapore. The restaurant was founded in 1999 and since it has got the reputation of one of the best fish restaurants in Johor Bahru.
Here you can try fresh-caught fish (grouper, snapper, pomfret, threadfin), prawns, crabs, oysters and lobsters. Fish and seafood can be cooked in different ways: black pepper, Thai style, Hong Kong steam, “sambal” and others.
The Todak’s signature dish is crab. I’ve tried chilli crab here and it was really fresh and delicious. They served crab with mini buns (mantou)… mmm… these crispy skin buns are to die for:
One of my favorite dish in Todak restaurant is Salted egg slipper lobster:
The prices here are quite reasonable (especially compared to Singapore), for example:
- Fish (100g) from RM 4
- Crab (100g) RM 3.8 – RM 7
- Prawns from RM 8
- Pearl Lobster (100g) RM 22.
See below Todak’s menu:
It should be noted that at night the restaurant is illuminated by red lights – quite uncomfortable for eyes (and that’s why all my photos from Todak are pink ). So the next time I’d rather visit this restaurant during the daytime.
